So, first tests went really well, the feeling of action is real.
Every turn you try to anticipate your opponent, prepare your card row/combo to use something better, and execute your best moves.
I was playing with my friend with the 2 basic characters, the knight vs the boxer. Hi boxer had 2 strategies, A momentum focused puncher that just started with fast jabs connecting with power rights and a non-stop barrage. Or he could go with a out boxer that would dodge and counter, seeing that my knight was slower than his boxer, i thought that he would go with the momentum puncher for more power as he was already faster. And he did, so i pick my cards thinking of that.
My knight has a powerful tanking aspect that power him up, the best defense and at the same time, this defense is what gives my fighter 'mana'. I choose a defending strategy till i get enough mana and could buff myself.
The fight went as i though, i used my defenses to not die and get some mana, and spent it buffing my self getting faster and stronger during this combo, as soon as he noticed this he tried to go for a fast strategy again, but i was already faster *evil eyes*, even when he tried to counter attack i still had my defenses as a reaction(a really good mechanic i made). He received some dmg but then managed to dodge some attacks. As my knight isn't really momentum focused, and keep the momentum not so high, he managed to break my combo by stoping my timing. As soon as he could he tried to kick up a notch again, but this time without letting me buff my self. instead i charged my mana and used one of my special skills allowing me to summon a Spirit guardian :D this is one of the coolest things so far. The spirit guardian can only be used 3 times but it's still enough to make the opponent be careful, But instead of that, my opponent just went straight forward with his Superman Punch Special skill, and broke my defenses. I still had reactions to reduce some of the dmg.
Well, that is how the game goes. I know it's not actually easy to understand what is happening, but there really is a feeling of action.
The reaction/combo/buffing/bluffing mechanic is really good, and the thematic characters is really getting onto me.
I actually already have a 30 character list. and each uses only bout 30 cards where you draft only 15 every turn, so it's a light game.
i'll upload pictures and maybe a video soon enough.
