See, whenever someone is fighting, i doubt that guy said "i can only throw 3 upper cuts in a single fight" or "right now i can only do 2 elbows and 3 jabs, i'll do one jab and see what i can do"...That really is a weird thing to me, trying to represent a fight by a hand of cards. I even tried to imagine the hand as openings you spotted as in during a fight, in the heat of the moment you notice the opponent movement and realized he had some blindspot/weakness, But still didn't cut it for me...
To me, a person should be able to do everything he could as long as he had energy, even if you can only manage to do 3 uppercuts in a single exchange of blows because of fatigue or simple position, but as soon as one of the fighters took a step back, you should be able to do some more.
So, i figured a normal deck with a hand would actually not be what i was looking for, the whole deck in your hand was more like it, but would be a real pain in the ass and a really long game if you always had your 30~60 deck in your hand, unless you were those hyper professional veteran players that new all the cards just by the picture or name and didn't even had to think to know which one was the right play. But what about a smaller deck? So, i created 2 basic characters, each with a 30 cards deck, and i split the fight in 3 rounds, in a best of 3 scenario, and at the start of each round, you would pick 15 cards to have with you, and the rest will be put aside so you can change your strategy if things aren't going your way. With those 15 cards in your hand, you could pick any of them to use every turn, and every time your combo/momentum broke, you would get the used cards back, so you would never run out of cards. In the case someone made a 15 card combo, i think that person should win the round.
Well, enough talk, i'm leaving to playtest it with the team.
